Dour Percentage on Fallon

There was a lot of anticipation prior to of Montreal's return to Fallon, after their July 2010 rendering of Sex Karma (quite possibly the only time they performed it with Solange, too*). It had set the tone for what the beginning of the False Priest tour was going to look and sound like, and considering the beautiful visuals they had with them this time around, one can only hope that this two-story stage setup and the little square screens and human screens are going on tour with them around the world. Enjoy!






Just for the hell of it, here's of Montreal's first appearance on national TV, bringing us back to April 2007 when they performed Heimdalsgate Like A Promethean Curse on Conan.

* I was just reminded by one die-hard Finnish fan that they performed it with Solange on Pitchfork's Cemetary Gates session, too. I had totally forgotten about that.

My City, My Secret

I'm not sure when this thing aired in the US, but I found a video of My City, My Secret, featuring Dottie and Bryan (See the post below) It's like the shortest and coolest tour guide you've ever seen - and I'm sure you (with your keen eyes and of Montreal-obsessed mind) will recognize a few people there. And some of you (well, more like 5 of us, I guess) will recognize a 2-second-long snippet from Spenser Simrill's documentary, Family Nouveau. You can watch it here. So far I only have this link to a facebook video, and some of you with no facebook account may not be able to watch it, but I'm not sure CNN will be okay with me uploading it on youtube, and I'm already out of "get out of jail free" cards.

For those of us who are a little bit worried about False Priest getting hijacked by Jon Brion, the good news is that apparently not that much was done in LA, apart from adding real drums and "improving" the sound, though I'm not quite sure how anything could sound better than Skeletal Lamping to human ears.

of Montreal on Yo Gabba Gabba

After last year's trippy Brush Brush Brush video (which they won't let me embed here, so click the link), the whole band traveled to California last summer to shoot a scene for an upcoming episode of kids' show Yo Gabba Gabba. The show will be broadcast on MARCH 10th on Nickelodeon at 10:30am ET/PT. From what I remember, it's supposed to be about some kid getting attacked by viruses, but I'm not sure who plays what part exactly. And if watching of Montreal promote personal hygiene and a good health care plan (while patiently waiting for Mr. Obama's reform to kick in) isn't enough to make you watch the show, they will also perform one song called “Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast!” - which sounds a lot like my mom's menu after a bad case of tourista. Should be a lot of fun for regular peeps and hypochondriacs alike. Ahem. Where's the Purex?

Remember that at 23:45 CET, an interview (and possible live footage) will be broadcast on Arte! It was shot in Paris on January 31st - I know, I was there!

Here's the mise-en-bouche.

The whole show should be streamable from the Arte+7 website from tomorrow and for 7 days, though I can't be sure how that actually works.
