While in New York a few weeks back, of Montreal stopped by the Rolling Stone studios for three (almost) acoustic renderings of tracks from Paralytic Stalks and an interview that mainly focuses on what to expect from the new live show.
The three songs come as stripped down as you could expect and the whole atmosphere is somewhat reminiscent of the Bandstand Busking session from 2008. Enjoy!

Sometimes I get the feeling that Kevin is just messing with our minds for the fun of it, like he needs to keep things as unusual and mysterious as possible, to keep himself interested. Still, it's alluring. Anyway, what does FEC stand for? Anyone?
ReplyDeleteNo idea... but then we never got an official word on what CCAA stands for either.
DeleteYou of all people should have gotten the official meaning of CCAA, though I have a pretty good idea. Fec, on the other hand, alludes me, as does his choice of hair alterations. That was unexpected. Hey, did you know that coco (as in "coco augury is so unreal") is from Portuguese. It means devil/evil spirit or goblin/ghost, as in your evil omen or some such. Every word on the record that I looked up had a dark meaning. And Kevin looks so sad.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about 'coco'. I still have to work on the lyrics for dummies page, and your insight will def. be included, dear Anonymous (mail me your real name if you want your contribution to be acknowledged!)
DeleteNo credit needed. It would be awesome to have an of Montreal compendium, a fully annotated edition of the lyrics from the four-track recordings through PS. It's almost as good as my idea for of Montreal Mad Libs, but I'll take the board game and be happy. How's that haircut for a vanity holocaust? I guess he's still killing his ego.
ReplyDeleteI ask now 5 years later desperately hoping for an answer... Is there any way to find this again? This was the version of Dour Percentage I always listened to on a burnt cd that I think is in my ex girlfriends car (I ripped this, but paid for many shows and albums) Somebody? ..Anybody?
